Should PEDs Be Allowed In Sports?

Performance enhancing drugs most definitely should be allowed in sports! Let’s be honest; Some sports just suck, but roids would make even the most boring sport loads of fun, and good sports would be amazing! For example: Curling is a boring sport. Few people can honestly say they enjoy seeing disks slid towards targets on ice. But, if we give them steroids, helmets, and sticks, we have hockey, a much more enjoyable sport. I realize most people don’t share my views, and that’s respectable, but this text might bring up points you hadn’t thought of.

Some people argue that it’s not fair for athletes to take steroids in competitions. Wrong; It’s unfair for them NOT to take steroids. Half of them do it anyway, and they’re usually the more successful ones. Who needs skill when you have 10 to 20 percent more strength?

Research has shown that steroids make you better at almost any physical task. Sure, they’re terrible for you in the long run, but who cares if athletes die at forty? Most of them hate their life after sports anyway. Many of them suffer terrible injuries and do not operate at the normal human capacity. Steroids improve physical strength and resistance to pain, so they are very useful to athletes.

Lance Armstrong used steroids (several times) and that’s pretty much the only reason he won the Tour De France all those times. Sure, he might have trained exceptionally hard and devoted himself completely to the sport, but his victory was definitely aided by the performance enhancers. It’s unlikely that he was the only one who used them, but he’s the one who won, and for some reason it’s more terrible to find out that the winner of a competition was using steroids than some person who finished fourth. Steroids are seen as a drug, when they should be seen as a musculoskeletal supplement.

My final argument is that steroids just make competitions so much more fun. If you’ve ever seen olympians and wondered, “How do they do all these unimaginable things?”, the answer is steroids. If you’ve ever watched the show American Gladiators and wondered “How are they so big?”, the answer is steroids. Steroids create entertainment, and entertainment is what America is built around. The bottom line is, if there were no steroids, sports wouldn’t be nearly as enjoyable to the fans.

Originally, that was written differently. Apparently it was written improperly, and so I had to rewrite it. One of the changes I had to make was including a summary sentence at the end of every paragraph. I think that's absolutely ridiculous, because I hate redundancy, and because people should not need to be reminded of what they just read by telling them again. To be quite honest, I hate that sort of writing. The only kind of writing I like is ranting about menial things and critiquing society.
