What does 21st Century Literacy Mean To Me?

PLEASE NOTE: This was an assignment I was given by my teacher... Just know that I would never voluntarily do something like this.

The ability to read and write is the definition of literacy, and I don't see how it would be different in the 21st century than... the 16th century. Reading and writing is still the same, it's just done differently than 500 years ago. I'm assuming that I'm supposed to talk about technology, but that's not in the question, so I'm just gonna' go ahead and... not do that. To me, literacy is becoming less and less important. I had the vocabulary of the average 12th grader by 6th grade, so I would probably be alright if I quit school now. (I'm in 8th grade) Anyway, that's the way I see "21st Century Literacy".
